Help with a new fireplace or an existing gas appliance

Renovation Xperts Group provides gas fireplace installation, repair and service in Niagara and Hamilton, including Stoney Creek and Ancaster. Tell us whether you are planning a new installation, replacing an existing appliance, or arranging service before the heating season.

Which gas fireplace service do you need?

The appliance model, room, venting route and clearances determine the installation. Existing faults need an assessment rather than repeated attempts to restart the fireplace.
  • New installationDiscuss your room, proposed location, appliance choice, gas connection and a suitable venting route. Confirm framing and finishing responsibilities in the quote.
  • Replacement or insert assessmentReview the existing fireplace opening and connections before choosing compatible equipment. A wood-fireplace conversion or insert needs its own assessed scope.
  • Ignition or control problemsA pilot or burner that will not stay on, a fault indication or unresponsive controls needs diagnosis. Share the model and symptoms if available.
  • Service and maintenanceAsk about inspection and cleaning appropriate to the model. The visit scope and price are confirmed before booking; additional parts and repairs are agreed separately.

Service, repair or replacement?

Start with the condition and cause of the problem. A control fault and an unsuitable installation call for different work; age or a missed start alone does not establish that you need a new fireplace.

  • The appliance's condition and the cause of the fault.
  • Venting, gas connections and required clearances.
  • Whether suitable replacement parts are available.
  • The repair scope compared with a compatible replacement.

A gas fireplace is a room-heating and comfort appliance whose performance depends on the selected model and installation. Do not assume it will heat the whole home or operate during a power outage; those features need to be checked for the specific equipment.

Know what is included in your fireplace quote

Appliance work and decorative finishing are different parts of a project. Confirm who handles each.

  • Equipment and placement: Selected model, proposed location, required clearances and whether an insert or new installation is being assessed.

  • Gas, venting and controls: The gas connection, venting route and controls or electrical work included in the proposal.

  • Framing and finishing: Who handles the opening, surround, mantel, wall finishing and any separate renovation work.

  • Testing, price and support: Agreed removal, operating checks, taxes, exclusions, timing and separate warranty terms.

What affects gas fireplace installation and service costs?

The appliance and the work around it determine an installation quote. Diagnostic and maintenance visits are priced separately. We confirm visit fees before booking and explain the proposed repair price after assessment, before approved work begins.

Appliance and installation type

The selected fireplace, insert or replacement and its installation requirements affect the scope.

Venting and gas connections

Venting route, existing gas supply, access and connection work affect installation cost.

Framing and decorative finish

The opening, surround, mantel and finishing responsibilities must be identified; do not assume decorative work is included.

Service scope and repair parts

The fault, equipment access, cleaning tasks and available replacement parts affect the visit and repair price.

We explain visit fees before booking and agree the work and price before proceeding.

Coverage in writing

Understand installation and repair coverage

Your quote explains applicable installation workmanship coverage and the manufacturer's equipment warranty separately. For repairs, any applicable parts and labour coverage is explained with the work. Installation coverage does not automatically cover an unrelated service visit.

Renovation Xperts Group is a TSSA registered heating contractor. The people doing the work must hold the qualifications appropriate to its scope.

Care and maintenance

Use and care for your fireplace correctly

Follow the appliance manual, keep required clearances and use the specified safety barrier. Glass can remain very hot after use. Do not operate a fireplace with cracked glass. Arrange professional inspection and service as recommended for your equipment; gas and electrical components should be assessed by qualified people.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install, repair and service gas fireplaces?

Yes. We handle gas fireplace installation, repair and service. Share the model, room or symptoms so suitability, parts and the agreed scope can be confirmed.

Can you install a gas insert in my existing fireplace?

The existing opening, condition, venting route, gas supply and selected appliance need assessment. We confirm whether an insert or conversion is suitable and describe the included work in the quote.

My pilot or burner will not stay on. What should I do?

Stop repeated attempts to restart it and request assessment. Follow the appliance manual and do not dismantle or adjust gas components. If you smell gas or a CO alarm sounds, leave and call 911 from outside. For a suspected gas leak, you can also call Enbridge Gas Ontario at 1-866-763-5427.

Is the remote or thermostat included in the service?

Tell us which controls you have and what they are doing. Control checks, parts, replacement controls and setup are confirmed in the agreed service scope; do not assume every accessory is included.

How often should a gas fireplace be serviced?

Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Enbridge recommends an annual professional service visit for gas fireplaces. We confirm model-specific inspection and cleaning tasks and the visit price before booking.

Is glass cleaning the same as a full service?

No. Cleaning the glass does not establish that gas components, venting, controls and appliance operation have been inspected. Ask what the visit includes, and never operate an appliance with cracked glass.

Does installation include the mantel and wall finishing?

Only the work listed in the quote is included. Framing, surrounds, mantels, decorative finishes and separate renovation work must be assigned and priced explicitly.

Do you serve Niagara and Hamilton, and can I request urgent help?

Yes, including Stoney Creek and Ancaster. Call (905) 977-2220 and press 2 to discuss current availability. A form submission starts an enquiry and does not dispatch a technician or guarantee an arrival time.
