Know what your furnace needs
A routine visit is a chance to review operation, identify concerns and plan the next steps. If your furnace already has no heat or keeps shutting down, request repair service rather than a tune-up.

Annual checks
When should I arrange a check?
Annual inspection by a TSSA-registered fuel contractor is recommended for fuel-burning appliances. Planning before the heating season gives you time to discuss any findings. Follow your equipment’s maintenance instructions too. TSSA guidance

Frequently asked questions
How often should my furnace be inspected?
TSSA recommends annual inspection of fuel-burning appliances by a registered fuel contractor. Your furnace manufacturer may also specify maintenance requirements.
What is included in a tune-up?
We confirm the checks, cleaning and other work included before booking. Ask whether filters or any additional service are included in your particular visit.
Does maintenance guarantee no breakdowns?
No. A visit can identify concerns, but cannot guarantee that a component will never fail later.
How long does a visit take?
Timing depends on the equipment, access and agreed scope. We discuss the expected appointment requirements when booking.
What if you find a problem?
We explain the findings and any proposed additional work. Replacement parts and repairs are agreed separately from the maintenance visit.
Can you maintain a furnace you didn’t install?
You can enquire about an existing system. Tell us the brand and any rental or service-plan arrangements so we can confirm the scope.
Is duct cleaning included?
Do not assume so. Whole-home duct cleaning is separate from a furnace maintenance visit unless explicitly included in the booking.
My furnace isn’t heating—should I book maintenance?
Request furnace repair and explain the symptoms. A breakdown needs assessment; a tune-up should not be represented as a guaranteed repair.
